First clinical result with the LU 303 TU

Objective: Evaluation of a new toric IOL regarding the calculation of the lens power and the clinical application.
Methods: 14 eyes of 8 patients with a mean age of 70.0±13.8 years were enrolled in this prospective study. Lens power calculation were done by the company Occulentis, Germany. Until now 8 toric IOLs plate haptic were implanted during standard cataract surgery. IOLs were produced with exact power labels and individually controlled.
Results: All surgeries were performed without any complications. The mean corneal astigmatism of the patients was 1.86±0.77D. The mean cylinder of the IOLs implantetd was 3.35±1.89 D, the mean spherical equivalent was 20.97±3.85 D. A mean uncorrected visual acuity of 0.37±0.06 logMAR was measured. Having a mean postoperative astigmatism of 0.34±0.52 D a postoperative distance corrected visual acuity of 0.33±0.1 logMAR was achieved.
Conclusions: The implantations of the new toric IOL were performed very safety. Visual acuity showed good results in all eyes measured.
