Posterior optic button holing (POBH): technique and operative management

Hengerer F., Pena A., Dick H. B.
Universitäts-Augenklinik Bochum

Posterior optic button holing is a technique of increasing importance in cataract surgery. Reaching an early steady state of refraction as far as avoiding posterior capsular opacification formation have to be mentioned, respectively. Menapace´s technique as well as pearls for a successful optic encalvation through the posterior capsulorhexis will be adressed in this video. Avoiding complications and performing difficult start-up conditions are focused on. According to our experience using the POBH-technique in many routine cases so far, we can recommend this procedure to guarrantee a centered and secure IOL-position without any PCO-formation at all.
