AbstractDO.17.07 Refractive lensexchange with multifocal lens implantation Lerche R.-C., Joergensen J., Fleischer M., Weingärtner E., Lamcke I., Schumacher S., Köhler J., Boberg-Ans J. EuroEyes, Zentrum für refraktive Chirurgie, Hamburg Objective: Presbyopic surgery is a major challenge in refractive and lens surgery. Monovision and multifocal lens Implantation are available procedures. Aim of the study was to evaluate a big number of patients with focus on results and complaints after multifocal lens surgery. Methods: In a prospective study in 412 eyes of 206 patients a refractive lens exchange with multifocal lens implantation was performed. Follow-up time was three months. According to initial refraction three groups were assigned. Visual acuity (UCVA, BCVA , reading) and optic quality were evaluated. Typical complaints like halos and postrefraction as well as correcting bioptics-procedures were analysed. Results: 297 hyperopic, 25 emmetropic and 90 myopic eyes were enrolled. Visual acuity raised from peroperative 0,28 resp. 0,62 resp. 0,1 to 0,71 resp. 0,80 resp. 0,74 after three months. Reading UCVA was 0,83 resp. 0,87 resp. 0,84. Complaints were glare, halos and blurring in postrefractive errors. Therfore next to 29 intended 32 unscheduled Bioptic-LASIK-procedures were necessary. In 4 eyes secondary intraocular lens replacement with monofocals took place. Conclusions: Refractive lensexchange with multifocal lens implantation is a safe and efficient procedure to correct presbyopia and ammetropia. Nevertheless possible complaints after surgery require the supply of hightech wavefrontguided lasertechnology and intensive patient management. Bioptics-procedures allow to meet demands of our patients.
