Submission of abstracts

Submissions of the following scientific contributions are welcome: oral presentations, short oral presentations, posters and videos (video session).

Deadline

2 April 2008

Guidelines Abstract Submission

A special criterion for final acceptance of abstracts will be their degree of innovation.
Contributions according to the main topic of the congress “Perspectives in Ophthalmology – Quality of Life by Innovation“ are especially welcome.

Content and Form

The abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by the DOG programme committee. In order to make their work as efficient and the selection as objective as possible, the following guidelines should be observed.

Binding submission of abstracts

Abstracts should preferably be submitted via www.dog2008.org.
The "Abstract Submitter" should be filled in completely. The abstract file in English and an anonymous version (no authors and no affiliations) should be attached. In the anonymous version, please avoid naming authors, institutes, companies or places that may reveal the origins of the abstract. Please place XXX in these fields instead. Insufficiently anonymized abstracts will to be rejected.

For every abstract submitted, you will obtain a reference number, which can be used to make corrections in your abstract until the deadline. The “Abstract Submitter” will be deactivated on 3 April 2008, 02.00 hrs/CET.

Abstract submission by postal mail

As an exception, abstracts can also be submitted via mail and disk. The "Abstract Submitter" should also be completely filled in. The files with the English and the anonymous version with all required information on the author and co-authors and institutions should be enclosed on a disk or CD-ROM. Please do not send any further copies of abstracts. As submission of abstracts via fax will not be accepted, there is no point in sending any abstracts in advance by fax.

For each abstract, please submit a formatted disk or CD-ROM (MS-DOS-formatted) with the file format Winword (*.doc), Word for Macintosh (*.doc), Rich Text Format (*.rtf) or a compatible format.

Abstracts postmarked after the deadline of 2 April 2008, will not be accepted.
Acknowledgement of receipt will not be verified, unless requested.

Confirmation

When submitting the abstract via Internet (www.dog.org), the author confirms that all co-authors have agreed to the submission of the abstract accordingly. The authors take full responsibility for its contents. The authors thereby guarantee that the abstract submitted describes unpublished results and that clinical studies have been done with approval of the ethics committee and animal tests have been done with official permission from the proper authorities.

Publication

Abstracts should be submitted in clear and concise German as well as English and should be ready for publication. Their contents must not have been presented at any other congress or published in a scientific journal. The abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings of the 106th
DOG Congress.

Financial disclosure

The DOG expects the declaration of financial linkage and maintains that disclosure of financial interest is prudent for the appraisal of published material. Financial linkage as such will not necessarily prejudice an author and will not lead to disqualification of a publication or a registered presentation. Delegates and scientific reviewers are the best judges of whether prejudice may exist or if evidence of the manipulation of research results through financial linkage is given. The integrity of all research results will ultimately be strengthened and speculation about probable interests seen in the correct light as a result of these measures.
